LZ2KAB — Youth Center Amateur Radio Club in Polikraishte Village
The establishment of Polikraishte’s second amateur radio station — LZ2KAB at the local Youth Center — was led by Rumen Sarnov (LZ2DD), who served as trustee and station manager, and Stefan Getsov (LZ2PS), who led Morse code training classes for local elementary school students.
1. Facilities and Equipment
The club was hosted in two dedicated rooms at the Youth Center:
- Training Classroom: Equipped with 10 student positions for Morse telegraphy practice.
- Radio Shack: Operating room housing the HF station equipment.
Initial equipment was donated by the Veliko Tarnovo regional radio club, starting with a vintage Czech factory-built KUF CW transmitter. Later, the club acquired a classic UW3DI-I HF transceiver paired with a high-power linear amplifier utilizing a GU-74B tetrode tube.
2. Training and Legacy
Through systematic Morse code courses, the club produced skilled operators. Among those who became lifelong radio amateurs were Iliyan Kushev (LZ4AR) and Ivan Angelov (LZ2IAA).
