LZ2KAL — History of the Amateur Radio Club in Alekovo Village
The original establishment of an amateur radio club in the village of Alekovo (Svishtov municipality) dates back to prior to 1960. Supported by the Veliko Tarnovo regional radio club, an amateur station under callsign LZ2KAL was successfully brought on the air.
1. Revival Efforts (1968–1969)
According to recollections by Kiril Iliev (LZ2JA), who served as a radio instructor during 1968–1969, an effort was launched to reactivate club operations in Alekovo.
To support this revival, the original HF transmitter from Svishtov club LZ2KSQ along with a modified broadcast receiver were relocated to the Alekovo village school. Despite securing the equipment and setting up the space, local activity eventually faded due to unrecorded circumstances.
