The Railway Station area in Polski Trambesh where club LZ2KKP was located
LZ2KKP — Town Amateur Radio Club in Polski Trambesh
Official historical documentation regarding the exact founding date of the town amateur radio club in Polski Trambesh remains scarce (estimated around 1956), as does the complete roster of its founding members.
It is documented that club station LZ2KKP was housed in a spacious building near the town’s railway station. One of the station’s primary HF transmitters was designed and custom-built by Georgi Zahariev Karailiev (LZ2GZ – sk), paired with a compact Cushcraft receiver.
1. On-Air Memories (1967)
Fascinating historical recollections are preserved thanks to Mihail Borisov Trifonov (LZ1MBT / ex LZ2MB). During the summer of 1967, while interning for the installation of the town’s new automatic telephone exchange (PTT station), he operated CW (Morse code) almost daily from LZ2KKP.
2. SSTV Pioneer — Georgi Zahariev (LZ2GZ – sk)
Georgi Zahariev (LZ2GZ – sk) is remembered as a remarkably talented self-taught radio engineer and homebrew builder. He was among the earliest Bulgarian radio amateurs to successfully implement and pioneer **SSTV (Slow-Scan Television)** image transmissions on the HF bands.
